2010 Lincoln MKT - Auto Shows

Luxurious and powerful, the MKT is the Navigator for Lincoln’s new generation.

Lincoln’s lineup is slowly splitting in two: the young and hip crowd on one side, with their “MK” naming convention—MKS, MKX, MKZ—and the more traditional offerings—Town Car and Navigator—on the other. The MK family shares a common and distinctive new style; the old guard share full-frame design and behemoth interiors.

Lincoln is introducing the 2010 MKT at the Detroit auto show to bridge the gap. It’s a Ford Flex-based six- or seven-passenger crossover born from the new Lincoln design language, and perfect for those who love the new baleen-whale grille and have a large brood to transport. It boasts the largest manifestation yet of the split-waterfall grille, with a pair of openings large enough to cure any cooling problems. While we don’t expect there will be any overheating issues, the MKTwill be available with a hot motor—Ford’s long-promised EcoBoost twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, with a claimed 355 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.

Full-Size, Fully Loaded

Being based on the Flex means the MKT is a full-size vehicle: at 208 inches long, it’s less than an inch shorter than the Navigator. Although it looks taller than the Flex, it’s actually almost two inches lower.
