Blame it on all that Nürburgring tuning done to the CTS and the time the engineers had to just sit in the pits while development drivers were out having fun. No doubt somebody at some point said, “Man, I wish we could get online. My buddy posted this hilarious video on Facebook the other day. If only one of these spare cars sitting around was connected to the internet.”
Ask and ye shall receive, innocent development engineer. At the New York auto show, Cadillac will announce the availability of Autonet mobile internet in the 2009 CTS. For $499, CTS buyers will be able to make their car a roving WiFi hotspot via a dealer-installed router. One gigabyte of data is $29 per month, five is $59. Using signal from the 3G cellular network, the Autonet system provides connection speeds up to 800 Kbps.
